Thanks for your quick reply! I tried what you said but it didn't work. I got a different error code though: Sorry, but pdflatex did not succeed.
Here is what it says in the log files respectively:
2015-10-09 12:22:14,065+0200 FATAL pdflatex - Bad parameter value.
2015-10-09 12:22:14,065+0200 FATAL pdflatex - Info: font_mem_size
2015-10-09 12:22:14,065+0200 FATAL pdflatex - Source: Libraries\MiKTeX\TeXAndFriends\include\miktex/TeXAndFriends/TeXApp.h
2015-10-09 12:22:14,065+0200 FATAL pdflatex - Line: 377
(It’s the exact same thing for both pdflatex and xelatex)

Try out a hello-world.tex:
\documentclass{article}
\begin{document}
hello
\end{document}
Compile it on a command line with
pdflatex hello-world
and
xelatex hello-world
If it fails too, show the log-file.
