pdfLaTeX failed to typeset

Hi, all,



I have just installed MiKTeX on a Windows 7 Professional. I have used it all along on a Windows 7 Home Basic, and it was good. But now the old .tex file I have won't compile. The initexmf log file has the following:

I'm puzzled by the error message. When I typeset the file the TeXWorks was the only application that I ran, so there couldn't be any other process accessing the file. What went wrong?
