Problems starting MiKTeX Portable from USB

Good morning to everyone,
I’m trying to create a portable installation on USB of MiKTeX on an USB
(an USB 3.0 8GB Kingston flash drive); I tried to run the portable setup
and install MiKTeX there. It worked, the files (after a really long time)
get unpacked on the USB… but at the moment of starting up the
batch script, the command prompt shows up and then nothing happens.
I have been waiting for hours to start, still nothing happened.
I also tried to unpack MiKTeX portable on my HDD and it works fine:
just 2 seconds of command prompt and the traybar icon popped up.
I then tried to update the HDD installation of MiKTeX and copy it on the
USB drive… No success: running the batch script just get stuck at the
command prompt.
I sincerely have no clue about what should I look at in order to solve
the issue… hope this can be fixed!
