Without knowing what package you are using for your slides, it is difficult to know how to help. I have used the Beamer package to make slides for lectures. It works fairly well, and has a helpful manual. You should experiment with the many styles to decide which you like. You should also note that it enforces some "rules", like "Don't put too much text on a slide", that you might not like.
