"longer" seems an odd usage, given that afaics it's never been in tetex
(it's not in 1.0.7 nor the beta i'm also running -- not today's beta,
which i've not unpacked yet).

no licence problem (it's lppl).  i don't actually understand the
criteria for inclusion: are you open to suggestion, thomas?

(fwiw, chapterbib, which offers some of the facilities of bibunits, _is_
in tetex.)
