Hello all,
for the past week or so I have been trying to write a
smallarticle using LaTeX and the hyperref package: this is to be
 presented in a seminar.
At home I am using Fedora Core3 which
features tetex-2.0.2-21.3 and the associated xdvi. At office I am
using an ancient Red Hat 7.3 whose xdvi is xdvi version
 22.05d-k.

On this machine there is no problem: if I click on a link created by a
\ref{*} command, the dvi immediately jumps to the target ---usually a
figure. On my home machine which is, of course, relatively modern xdvi
does not seem to even show the links! (I tend to use the reverse video
mode by default; but is this the only problem.) The difficulty is that
the current version of xpdf is unusable if one wants to scroll
horizontally or vertically --- the motion is ragged and slow. It
wasn't so in the earlier version xpdf-1.00-3.

So what is happening to progress and what do other tetex-ers do for
latex dos with hyperlinks.

Cheers.
