ptex is "Publishing TeX", a well-known (in Japan) package. I haven't looked at
since the MSDOS days, but as I recall it used a modified tfm+dvi format.

I opened a bug <https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=164986>
encouraging redhat to clarify the relationship between ptex and tetex.

It would be helpful if tetex's documentation mentioned that ptex is available as
an "add-on" from one or more well-known linux vendors.
