texi2html at cvshome

Hi,

First, I would like to warn you that there is a licensing issue with 
texi2html (it affects the version of texi2html you distribute with singular,
and also the version of texi2html we develop at texi2html.cvshome.org).
The short story is that Karl Berry gave the copyright to the FSF without
asking them, and now he said it would be better to assign it to the real
author, and if nobody is found to be copyright holder, release it in the
public domain to avoid licence issues. 

My understanding is that Olaf Bachman is more or less the copyright holder, 
although he believed the copyright was held by the FSF when he worked on 
texi2html. I send him a mail about these issues, asking for his permission 
to release it in the public domain, or do whatever he wants, but he hasn't
responded yet. If I have more information I will give it back to you.


On another topic, we are almost ready to do a new release of texi2html 
at texi2html.cvshome.org. I really like the singular manual as a example 
of something nice done with texi2html, and I would like to include the 
singular manual in the tests manuals for texi2html. However I have 2 
problems with that.

- I can't produce the right .tex files (I sent some mails about that). It
is not a serious issue, as the manual is almost right (the examples with MP
couldn't be run). Thus could it be possible for you to send the right texinfo
files of the manual or do you think I should go with what I have ?

- A more serious issue is that there is no explicit copyright for the 
manual. Should I consider that the GPL described in COPYING.texi holds for 
the manual, too ? And the .init files ? I always considered that they are 
public domain. Is it true ? And lastly, what is the licence (is there any) 
on the files in the images directory ?
