I'm forwarding this to [email protected], the correct forum for
this sort of thing. I think Pat Dumas already fixed some odd character
issues, and he might be able to tell us if that included umlauts.

|I've already requested access to the
|project files,

I denied your request for the time being. You can request an observer
role for now if you would like write access to the issuezilla bug/issue
tracking database.

We don't have any set policy on acceptance of new developers at the
moment. I'm inclined to adopt the CVS policy. After some number of
patch submissions which we incorporate into texi2html, one of the
developers can request a vote on granting a new person developer status
on the project. If nobody objects, then developer status will be granted.

Pat, what's the status of your copyright research? Are we going to need
copyright assignments from Martin?

| however I also applied the diff to this mail, so
|you might want to apply the fix yourself if you like it.

Pat, you're closer to this than me just now. Could you take a look?
Martin, if this patch is against 1.65, it might be worthwhile to try the
CVS version of texi2html and maybe regenerate any portions of your patch
against that if it is still needed. Pat's been doing a lot of work lately.

|BTW, since the Perl `Getopt' handles long options with double
|dashes (GNU style) as well as the old style using single
|dashes. Wouldn't it be a good idea to let the `-help' output
|list the long options with double dashes? Maybe just a matter
|of taste, but anyway...

I agree that it's a matter of taste. Single dash options bother me too,
but I've been leaving them the way they are for backwards compatibility
with previous texi2htmls. I still don't think I'm inclined to change
this myself but if Pat or somebody decided to, I wouldn't object.

Derek
