Language command...

Hello all,

As far as I understand when you compile texinfo source into html the navigation structure (menu, "go next", etc.), html result is localized in the language of the system box. So if Hans uses a linux system in german all structure words in the html document (node, menu, contents, etc.) are translated into german.

So, theoretically, you need first to change the system language (setlang variable in linux) and then run makeinto to compile the sources into html.

It is not very ergonomic, indeed, and forces users to lose a lot of time.

There could be two solutions to the issue. 
The first: a command word funcioning both for TeX AND for html.
The second: a second "macro" file, like texinfo.tex, where you may customize your settings for what html representation is concerned, particularly with regards to national issues.

I did something similar with texinfo.tex and translated all structure words (chapter, section, etc.) into italian. If anybody needs it I will send you the macro file.

Karl, any news regarding OOo xml filter? I am definitely not in the condition to create it myself... come on people... I am gonna offer the first who succeeds an italian dinner. And it is definitely stupid keeping texinfo closed to office suites. Besides that I really do not understand this hard division between wysiwyg and markup supporters and was astonished when I discovered that OOo does not import TeX / Latex sources like KOffice did once upon a time - freedom is in the exchange of data not in religion wars. 
Texinfo, Lyx, OOo, Scribe, Texmacs, Mgp are all excellent programs, but if you are not in the condition to exchange content and to modify it without the necessity to reformat it, they become only a hobby for a restricted elite and not software for the masses...
