Hi,

I have tried to run slifontsexample.tex
from the doc directory of the CVS TeXPower.

I tried the following (my problem occurs for b):
a) latex slifontsexample.tex
   dvips slifontsexample.dvi
   gv slifontsexample.ps

   Result: all fonts look fine.
(only the page has wrong orientation, I don't bother)

b) pdflatex slifontsexample
   acroread slifontsexample.pdf

   Problem: Some fonts look "blurred"/"edgy".
For example the first of this type occurs on page 4, lowest
line with "abcdABCD> ...". which is supposed to be from cmbrm.

   When zooming with acroread (C-+)
from a certain size on the corresponding letters turn
   into filled boxes.

Other example: dsrom (on page 6) - whereas rsfs looks fine at
   any magnification.

((To emphasize: the fonts look already a bit poor at normal resolution.
The magnification just allows to check this ...))

For completeness I've put the resulting file under
   http://www.msri.org/~abaecker/slifontsexample.pdf

c) latex slifontsexample.tex
   dvipdfm slifontsexample

Gives for fonts the same as b) (orientation as in a)

Presumably I am missing something simple - any
help is appreciated!

Arnd
