Note that the doublestroke fonts have a map of their
own, "dstroke.map" which has to be added for them to
be recognized.

If you really don't have the Type1 fonts dsrom10.pfb and 
such, grab them from 

http://www.ctan.org/tex-archive/fonts/doublestroke

The map is also there.

This is fine. There simply exists no bold typewriter font in
Type1 format, and the system informs you about the substitution
of a medium one.

The other messages are in the same vein.

No small caps slifont.

Neither an italic sans serif font. Maybe I should make _that_ 
warning silent, because it's clear that slanted takes the place
of italic for sans serif faces.

I can make all substitutions silent, but then you wouldn't know
something doesn't look like it might have been intended to look.

This can be quite different for different configurations, even
with the slifonts demo. In tpslifonts v0.6 (upcoming), there'll
be an option for cmr text, so there'll be a small caps series
when this is configured.
