First of all this is *not* texpower related - you may not realize it, but 
all translation effects are taken from the hyperref package. Therefore the 
discussion should take place at the news group comp.text.tex - where you 
most likely will get much more help.

I haven't had any problems myself (running Linux), so I can't help you.

I also have this behaviour (on Linux) and haven't found a work-around.
