The font package that comes with Malayalam/Tamal Omega/Aleph bundles, as well
ass ILDC, CDAC, are Type 1 Postscript fonts with .pfb extension.  Hence the
need for map files and updmap command, etc.  XeTeX/XeLaTeX uses the fonts
already installed in the Operating system (.ttf or orf), so no need for Map
files.
I am wondering whether Type 1 .pfb fonts could be used in XeTeX/XeLaTeX also, 
and if so, what is the procedure to use them.
