Hi! I tried installing A-A-P, just now, following the instructions on http://www.a-a-p.org/download.html#AapUnix I decided to try the CVS-method. First, I made the directories and downloaded the files from CVS, as described. So far, all well. Then I tried running the "aap" executable, with various flavours of parameters, all which gave me the same error message: " Aap: Detected an error in the Python "pre" library. See "/home/uall5063/Exec/README.txt" how to fix this. " I thought this was a bit strange. Oh well. Off I went to read the file. I was told that this was due to a bug in Python 2.2.1, and all I had to do was to patch "pre.py". That would have been easy enough, if I were root on the computer I'm sitting at... After trying various tricks to the best of my ability, I gave up. (I could have installed Python as a user, but, hey...) I just wanted to make you aware that normal users with Python 2.2.1 are beeing excluded from testing A-A-P. I could also add that it would be really nice if the patching could be done automagically and transparently. :) Have a nice day! - Alexander Rødseth ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email sponsored by: ApacheCon 2003, 16-19 November in Las Vegas.
