With some recent comments on github, it would appear(*) that it may be time to just remove the tv_imdb utility (the data is old/stale, and will not be being updated). Should that happen for the 0.6.2 release? Delaying for the next release is, of course, possible, but I doubt it changes any of the dynamics (it will just start failing for the people using it next year rather than this year), unless there are people who will get motivated now to provide an alternative if they know tv_imdb is going away soon. As to future alternatives, I will note that, having used TMDb matching, it sometimes produced "interesting" results, and OMdb's (free) API limits can be problematic, but if the upstream source does not provide any other metadata reference (some do) they might be better than nothing. (*) I think I was vaguely aware that imdb had restricted access to their curated data, but since I never used that data, I mostly did not care.
