I think keeping tv_imdb around whilst the archived data is still
available, or until a utility to use an equivalent up-to-date service
is written, makes sense.

The data might not be being updated but it's still useful. Development
effort on tv_imdb has been essentially zero for a long time.

+1 for notifying users about the fact the data is no longer updated.
Including Geoff's thoughts, this could be done via:

i) the utility at runtime
ii) POD
iii) release notes
iv) a message when installing XMLTV via package
