DVBlast state on their homepage: "EIT, SDT and TDT pass-through for EPG information"
Shouldn't VLC just display that? If you want a out of band EPG in DVB-IPI style you'll have to extend DVBlast.

I don't think that the upstream site behind _ch_search grants permission for reissuing their data.

No worries, but you should ask DVBlast questions on their lists.
