You would need to broach this on the Atlas list and see if you can get MetaBroadcast interested in doing anything about them.
The grabber just passes through what it received from Atlas. As noted in my other reply you can modify your local genres by adapting your tv_grab_uk_atlas.user.map.conf file. This does at least give you some control over the final output (and can help to tidy up some of the Press Association inconsistencies).

Atlas normally add a top-level genre when one doesn't exist. In this case the data are coming from Press Association with a sole genre of "Strongman Contests". It seems Atlas has not added a top-level genre in this instance - you will need to take this up with them on their Google list.

There has been a little discussion on making a generic augment routine (similar to the Radio Times one) which could be used by all grabbers, but no work has been done on this yet.
