The rt grabber can only access 1 genre, whereas the atlas grabber has an unlimited number (which includes finer-grained sub-genres).

I assume you are looking at Myth for this? The thought occurs to me: Can Myth handle multiple genres?

You will need to check with MythTV people how many and which genres it takes from the XML input file. Looks like it can handle only one, and which one it takes is random :(
