Matthieu, I do owe you this.  I earlier wrote that the baz archive
change design accomplished:

   1) a half-assed stab at windows portability
   2) a tla/baz compatibility breaker
   3) making an excuse for bogus design discussions between tla and baz

On your authority, I guess I could add:

    4) a half-assed stab at namespace liberalization
