PPC/Linux version?

We ordered one of the nifty new Apple Mini Macs ($499 1.2Ghz) as a
replacement for our aging 400Mhz imac.  We're looking to find a distro
to install on it and Yellowdog 1.2 is what we are currently using.
That's a glibc 2.1 system and we should probably move forward a bit.
But it is up t you folks, we support this platform for the open source
community and we'll install the oldest release which is still actively
used.  My instinct is is to use Yellowdog 3.0.1 which is about 14 months
old, I would guess that most developers are running a system at least
that recent.  Is anyone not?
