I have spent several hours now to recover that mention but to no avail. 
I'm pretty sure there must be something like this but I simply couldn't 
find it. OTOH, just yesterday I also was sure there must be an API for 
defining associations... but even all the MVPs on the MS NGs just tell 
you to manually create the registry keys...

Anyway, as you have probably seen, I have now uploaded a draft of the 
macro I mentioned. You could already use this to test the mechanism. Use 
at your own risk for the moment though: it IS modifying the registry 
(that's the point ;) ).
It is feature-complete apart from the browse-for-file functionality 
which I'd like to add later but the code is still rather dirty, so try 
not to look at it... ;)
