A tooltip is what I'd suggest - it's much easier to implement (the
graph is not really suitable for resizing one of the boxes as all
others would have to shift to make space, etc.) and it will give you
the information if you're interested.
I still think, adding the name and date to the revision box may be a
good option, since these are details that are of known size (i.e. small
enough to keep the general tree structure visible) yet they might be
helpful when quickly browsing through the tree. Also, I'd at least
display them conditionally based on the setting of a persistent bool
value, even if that option is not [yet] exposed in the UI...
