Just in case anyone is actually going to tackle this, I already spent 
some thought on such a feature for my own perpetually planned CVS client 
frontend which is still in the prototyping stages (I currrently only 
spend a couple of evenings on it every odd months or so). My notes are 
available for anyone interested here:

You'll have to look for the section entitled "Multi-file Graphical Log 
history view" (some way down the page). Comments?
