In the WinCVS shipped in the next CVS Suite I've introduced a preference
for using either the WinCVS CVSROOT wizard or the CVSNT Repository
Finder.  In our version the default is the CVSNT Repository Finder.

Patches will be submitted soon(ish) - I just need to work out why the
"cvs status" command is broken...

This has already been discussed and alluded to on both the CVSGUI and
CVSNT lists: As of CVSNT 2.5.03 the output of the cvs info command
effectively renders WinCvs' CVSROOT Wizard useless. This is because
"username" and "hostname" are no longer advertised as valid keywords
(though they still are) and thus they can no longer be entered via the
wizard, except by manually prefixing them to the "Repository Path"
entry. This especially affects newbie users who possibly rely on the
Wizard and will have no idea how else to construct the string (unless
they could simply copy&paste a complete string from somewhere).

As I don't think we could bet on Tony reintroducing those keywords (for
whatever reasons), what will be our course of action? CVSNT 2.0.51d is
becoming more and more dated and as a user who is using it as a server
day to day I'm becoming more an more aware of its glitches whereas my
test install of CVSNT 2.5.03 is looking better by the hour. Thus I'm no
longer recommending to use it for new installations.

I really think we should at least address the CVSROOT Wizard issue, and
as quickly as possible at that, and then do a service release kind of
thing. But what will be the best approach here? Add virtual username and
hostname entries to the listbox when they are not supplied by cvs info
or add dedicated edit boxes and hide the corresponding entries from the
list if they are supplied by cvs info?

The next question is what do we do with the values once they have been
entered. Do we insert them into the CVSROOT string as protocol keywords
or rather in their more "traditional" position? If I understood Tony
correctly, using them as keywords might not be supported in the
future...
