AFAIK,  cvsnt won't automatically start the cvslockd - it has to be  
launched either manually once or automatically by some external  
mechanism. Not sure what the standard installation on Linux does to  
get it automatically launched. On Mac OS X, the installer installs a  
startup item that launches the daemon.
