please try MacCvsX 3.3b2, which you can find at the sourceforge  
downloads:

3.3b2 does fix some Leopard problems (although, IIRC, it was mainly  
Python fixes).
I'm using 3.3b2 on Leopard daily and I have successfully used it with  
ssh access, so I believe it should work for you, too...

Let me know if you still have problems when using 3.3b2.
