Thanks Arthur for the thorough explanation. I had no idea you could install cvsnt on a solaris or linux box; the 'nt' part is misleading.

Basically, I'm migrating our old cvs repository from a solaris box to a new redhat box. I made a tarball of the old repo and untarred it on the new server and mounted it but having difficulty logging from the windows side via wincvs. And now I wonder if somehow cvs on the solaris box was setup with cvsnt and not cvs, I've to research that. Regardless though, for most migrations, tarballing a repository from one box to another should do it and nothing OS-related is embedded in the repository.

Thanks

Rez,> Does CVSNT have to be configured in any > special way both on the Windows side No.> and/or server side? If you install CVSNT on your linux server - yes it will need to beconfigured in /etc/cvsnt/Pserver (use /etc/cvsnt/PServer.example as aguide).> I'm somewhat confused by the 2nd paragraph; the words "cvsnt > server" are throwing me off a bit. Do you mean if I'm using > wincvs/cvsnt on a windows client machine, I'd have limited > features, or did you mean if cvsnt runs on a Windows server, > serving the repository, windows clients having limited features? If you are using CVS 1.11.22 as a server on linux then some WinCVSfeatures do not work, eg: revision graph with mergetracking, mergepoints, changesets, user defined changesets, etc.CVSNT runs on linux as well as windows as well as solaris, hpux, mac osx, IBM iSeries etc etc.Ie: Some features of WinCVS only work if you are using CVSNT Server.Regards,Arthur
