Hi Mike,

I think you need to understand some basics about WinCvs and especially
CVSNT. For me the tour at
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=10072&package_id=1
4571&release_id=302146 helped me a lot.

regards,
Mark

Onderwerp: [cvsgui] Getting started with a new project

Greetings. I am a network Admin, not a coder, but I have the task of
setting up and using wincvs for our development project. We started this
project with a coder in house and CVS was not required, but she is gone
and development has gone out-of-house to at least three different
locations. The coders are all using Visual Studio as their environment.

I have a dedicated CVS server, with wincvs 2.0.2.4 (build 4)installed.
It is running on Windows Server 2003 Web Edition. I have SSL installed
and working. The coders to date have been FTPing their code up - but
this is not the best way to go. We need to version control and merge
code....

I have downloaded and printed the documentation, which is not written
for Windows users, but oriented towards Linux users, thus I have a
difficult time understanding anything.....

I do have a repository setup - at least I think I do.

What I need help with is the following: (lots unfortunately)
How do users of Visual Studio use CVS? Is there a client they need to
install?
What do I need to do to get wincvs configured for their use? I already
have accounts made that they are using for FTP and it works fine.
What else do I need to know?

I would like to be able to check in and out code myself as I will be
testing the code. How does this work?

Again, I have tried top read the documentation, I am reviewing sites
on-line to try to get up to speed. But if anybody here can help, it
would really be appreciated.

Thank you.
