In wincvs as well as using flat mode, you could also use filters to see only certain files by enabling filter bar from the view menu.

Thanks, that does work, although the scroll-bar is a bit overwhelmed, just touching the scroll bar jumps hundreds of files at a time.
It would be a nice feature to have the nested tree display on the left side actually turn red if a file under that tree has been modified.
My issue is when I do a commit I have to enter the comment first, and often it ends up committing files I wasn't aware I had changed, so the comments end up being wrong for some of the files.
When I use to do command line cvs, it would show me a list of files and ask for the comment after, so I could easily spot which files were modified and adjust my comments accordingly.
The GUI version, which ive only just started using, asks for the comment first before showing me which files were modified.
