Keyboard Shortcuts Acting on Multiple Files

Hi All,
I've set up keyboard shortcuts to activate certain Macros I've added, and for some reason when I use them, they apply to all of the files in the directory I have open in the active window rather than just the file that is selected. This of course makes them useless! Does anyone know of a way to make sure this doesn't happen, and that the action only applies to a single, selected file?
