First of all, I am new to this, and won't get offended if you have to take time explaining things. I don't know much but thats why they call it learning.

I am running XP with 2G of memory, and I just installed the CVSNT2.5.03.2151 from a cd included in a book. Then i downloaded Tortoise CVS 1.10.10 and installed it.

The instructions in the book told me to stop the actions of the CVSNT Server and add a c:/cvs_repository folder, and then turn things back on. I am unable to start the CVSNT Lock Service.

Also, when I get to Tortoise, I create a c:\cvs_working_folder, and start a new project, and right-click to create a new tortoise module for the project, but I get errors.

for the CVSRoot I put in ":sspi:localhost:/projects"

repository folder    /projects

The book doesnt tell me to use a specific username, but Tortoise will eventually ask for a password, but I don't remember creating one. Where can I find this?

connect to localhost:2401 failed: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.

do you think I will have to get the CVSNT Server running first? Any help would be appreciated
