CPU Spikes on Server when I update my local repository

Hello,

I have inherited a CVS server running a repository on Linux 8 (I know it's old, we'll upgrade someday, or beat it to death in a field out back of the office), but for some reason, when I do an update, the cvs process on the server spikes and just sits there. It updates a few files, but that's it.

I am running WinXP Sp2 on my local system, and the repository is about 365mb.

Any ideas on what's happening?

Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Tom
