Arthur, > so if you can see the overlay then you should see the status/tip I can see the overlay icons without issue on all our machines and Windows OSes. The CVS repositories are all on local hard drives. Under Preferences -> Policy I enabled permissions for network drives and removable drives but did not see any change. Under Preferences -> Advanced, I do not have anything in the Excluded or Included folders entry. I added the top CVS controlled folder (D:\<folder name>) to the included list, but nothing changed. If I add that same directory in the excluded list, all the overlay icons are turned off for that directory and all its subdirectories ... and the right-click CVS options are then the same as a non-CVS directory. Not having been previously aware of this intended feature, I'm now very interested as I could see great utility. However, I'm puzzled as to how you have it so easily visable, and since I've been using TortoiseCVS I've never seen it. Are there other users on this list that can see the status/hints as Arthur does? Thanks for the guidance, Jim. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Arthur Barrett" <arthur.barrett-qn/[email protected]> To: "jim r" <[email protected]> Cc: tortoisecvs-users-5NWGOfrQmneRv+LV9MX5uipxlwaOVQ5f@public.gmane.org Sent: Thursday, January 14, 2010 3:24:36 PM GMT -06:00 US/Canada Central Subject: RE: [TortoiseCVS] CVS field display in Vista folders in WindowsExplorer Jim, > ... does > this mean we should see the status bar and hint behavior you > describe in WinXP/7 with TortoiseCVS 1.10 and/or 1.12 RC? > Yes. > I'm not familiar with the code, so I don't know if > CShellExt::GetInfoTip() is included in the regular TortoiseCVS builds. It is frustrating that google doesn't search sourceforge viewvc properly, otherwise it'd be a very simple matter to find. Yes it is in the code, if you know where to look: http://tortoisecvs.cvs.sourceforge.net/viewvc/tortoisecvs/TortoiseCVS/sr c/TortoiseShell/QueryInfo.cpp?revision=1.16&view=markup It looks like it doesn't show if it is a 'disabled path' - if you are looking at a network/removable drive then enable the 'Allow Network Drives' and/or 'Allow Removable Drives' preferences, or if the directory is in 'Excluded Directories' then remove it or if you have a list of 'Included Directories' then add it... The code for 'isdisabledpath' is here: http://tortoisecvs.cvs.sourceforge.net/viewvc/tortoisecvs/TortoiseCVS/sr c/CVSGlue/CVSStatus.cpp?revision=1.178&view=markup It looks like the same rules that apply for overlays apply for the status/tip - so if you can see the overlay then you should see the status/tip.
