Fwd: Help Required for tortoise cvs

Hi

I am Suhasan, I am using tortoise cvs for checking out the file. Currently
the cvs check out take more than 2 hours
client Tortoise version is : 1.10.10
client os : Windows xp

The total cvs size on server :2.5gb
the cvs size on client after check out : 450 mb

i am trying to do cvs check out but it take a long time. I could see that
old delete file of the current branch and other branch are getting
downloaded and getting delete after the check out is over.

Is this a normal behavior.
how can i increase the speed of the checkout
