Re: Rename strange/unexpected behavior.

I tried to install 1.12.5 last night. still no success, symptoms similar to
those of 1.12.3.

 

On a non production system I did the following:

-          Removed any remnants of CVSNT, TortoiseCVS, and March-Hare,
including files, folders, and Registry data.

-          Installed 1.10.10 - no errors reported.

-          Opened the CVSNT control panel, added the repository information,
and started both services.

-          Checkout one of the modules in the repository, successfully.

-          Release all files in the sandbox, successfully.

-          Run CVSDIAG. Output (CVSDiag1-10-10.txt) attached.

Everything as expected.

 

Next:

-          Removed ALL remnants of previous install, including files,
folders, and Registry data.

-          Installed 1.12.5 - apparently successfully with no errors
reported.

-          The normal CVS entries appear in the context menu.

-          There is no CVSNT control panel, neither service is present in
the Windows list or services.

-          An attempt to checkout a repository module fails with an error
that the server refused the connection.

-          A run of CVSDIAG generates the attached output -
CVSDiag1-12-5.txt.

 

The CVSDiag output seems to suggest that the installation did not complete.
This is exactly the behavior I experienced last week with 1.12.3 on this
system and one of our production systems.

 

I am completely at a loss as to what is happening and what to do, and am
therefore stuck at 1.10.10!

 

Any suggestions appreciated,

I followed the advice posted at the time - to remove the earlier version. I
uninstalled, removed remnant files and folders, and cleaned up the registry.


I actually spent several days trying to make it work on two different
machines without success.

(Eventually I had to revert to 1.10.10 to get on with my paying work L)

 

So, as you can see, I am stuck.

Yes, the first 1.12.x releases had some unfortunate problems. In the
meantime, 1.12.5 has been released - please try it when you have the chance.
