Hi Arthur, I had sent the dump file directly to you yesterday itself(not to the group). It was in the format described by you. I will send it to the email address specified as well. Now that I have installed the new version, I am not sure if I am allowed to uninstall and reinstall again. So not sure if I can run the tests again on that machine. It was not successfully recevied by the server (but we have other dumps from the same day), and we have not recevied it by e-mail. Do NOT send the crash dump to this newsgroup - send it only to the email address clearly displayed on the screen during the crash event. The crash dump file will be called something like this: TortoiseShell-2[1][1].8.01.4072-USER-b904dedce590029-small.dmp.gz To help us diagnose and fix this error please perform the following: 1) Download and install this update: http://march-hare.com/archive/cvs-suite-trial-2009-4185.msi DO NOT USE 'custom install', instead choose either: 'client only' or ' client and server'. 2) If this build DOES NOT crash, please report the success to the mailing list. Do NOT continue with any further steps below. If this build DOES CRASH, please e-mail the crash dump file to the e-mail address displayed in the crash dialog. 3) Only if this build is crashing, enable the debug log on your PC by setting these registry settings (assuming you have already created c:\temp): [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\TortoiseCvs] "Debug TortoiseShell"=dword:00000000 "Debug Logs"=dword:00000001 "Log Directory"="C:\\Temp\\" Reboot the PC. Perform some tests that cause the crash, then send the debug logs to the same e-mail address as the crash dump - the one shown on the screen in the crash dialog. I look forward to your reply and also the crash dump and debug logs. Will attempt to send it to you from the temp directory as well. Did you send the crash dump? I had a quick look and can't see anything with your name attached. You should be able to find the crash dumps on the disk in the temp directory and send them to the supplied e-mail address. Here the crash happens with all logins i.e. including the admin login that installed the software. In the open source Tortoise-CVS it only crashes for all logins other than the login that installed the software. I have attached part of the error message. Was having trouble taking a screenshot of the full error. Problem signature (taken from the machine) Event name: APPCRASH Application name: Explorer.exe App version: 6.1.7600... We have many customers using CVS Suite 2009 in exactly this combination. The community installers and software are maintained by the community and it sounds like you may have found some sort of bug, but as Torsten explained - we need more informationed, eg: the exact error message. Ashutosh - If right clicking the desktop crashes - on a new PC that sounds like something new. Would you mind uninstalling TortoiseCVS and trying the 'CVS Suite 2009' trial? This is a different 'build' and also a different 'version' of the same software, so that test wont help debug the 12.5 release but it may help a little (if the suite crashes too then it will send us a crash dump whih we can analyze). The machine is on a domain. The user who did the installation had administrative rights. TortoiseCVS works ok with his login. The issue arises when another user with administrative rights logs on to the same machine. The right click on the desktop crashes the explorer. The cause of the error is listed as the integration with the Tortoise shell. The moment Tortoise is uninstalled, the error goes away. Any clues on how to overcome this?
