Did not know ab= out the x32 keys; I checked that area, and all the Tortoise icons appear fi= rst as they are numbered 1-9. I wonder if that has something to do with it = - maybe the overlays need to be in the same position in both x32 and x64 re= gistries? Thanks for the solution! First off, have you rebooted since installing? Explorer still requires a r= estart (reboot or re-login or just kill and restart the explorer.exe proces= s) for some settings to take hold (e.g. changing overlay icons). On a x64 system there are two different Explorers each with their own regis= try entries for icon overlays. Most of the time you'll be seeing Explorer = x64, but some applications use Explorer x32 as a window within the applicat= ion (e.g. like CVS Suite Studio does). Explorer x64 registry key: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\ShellIconOverlayIde= ntifiers Explorer x32 registry key: HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\ShellIc= onOverlayIdentifiers If you only have Admin access for the day, you might consider renaming the = TCVS icon overlay registry entries rather than that of the other software. = The reason is that other software will replace those renamed entries over = time (e.g. when an update is installed) and then you'll end up with some or= all of them not working again eventually. I've had success putting a coup= le 0's in front of the name (e.g. "00 TortoiseCVS0"). Tortoise overlays st= ill appear, and they don't degrade over time like it used to with the previ= ous advice of renaming the others to fall lower in the list. Note that thi= s isn't a rigorously tested method, but I've just been using it for some ti= me myself and it seems to work well. I had admin privileg= es for the day only (corporate system), so I prefaced the registry keys for= the overlays I don't use with z_. When I open a folder connected to the CV= S repository I can see the CVS overlays for the folder and subfolders in th= e explorer view to the left, but nothing shows up on the files or subfolder= s in the folder view. I found plenty of guidance on Google for renaming the registry keys, but I = can't find anything on the icons not showing up on the files. Any ideas?
