[viewvc-users] [Subversion] too many branches?

I have installed the 1.1 beta for a Subversion repository with a very large number of branches and tags (1400 branches, 2500 tags). From the top level, I have the usual branches/tags/trunk links.  However, I cannot navigate to either the branches or tags link.  I get a very long wait, followed by the "Internal Server Error" message.

My setup:
- viewVc 1.1.0 beta1
- httpd 2.0.52
- OS: RHEL 4

Is ViewVc having trouble handling that much data for some reason?  When I do 
  svn ls svn://host/repo/tags
from the command line, the response is very quick.

I looked in /var/log/httpd/error_log and I am getting "Premature end of script headers: viewvc.cgi..." but that doesn't really help.  By the way, the "premature end of script" error pops up in error_log halfway through the long wait in the browser, not at the very end.

How can I get more information on the error?
