ViewVC is a repository viewer first and foremost.  It doesn't currently have
an reporting or graphing types of capabilities.  I suspect your Perl
solution -- which I assume talks directly to your Subversion repository --
has a greater chance of providing you with the information you seek for a
daily/weekly commit report.
