Posted on behalf of forum user 'Miles O'Neal'. We needed finer grained support; these users typically only have access to a small subset of superuser commands. In some cases, they can only run custom commands through the broker, so we just went with a broker approach. Since a hacker shouldn't know a support tech's LDAP password[1], we decided that spoofing the username wasn't a problem. We also restricted obliterate to a subset of superusers as defined by the protects table. The broker has made Helix management infinitely simpler for us.
