True! Also note that if you neglect to ever compress/balance with a
checkpoint, a sufficiently, ridiculously large database will see a noticeable
performance degradation over time (a month or so in our case), too. So the
urgency of doing that might depend on the overall size of your db/checkpoint. A
smaller db will absorb this kind of thing more readily, a larger one not so
much.

So, you _should_ do that occasionally, but 'occasionally' will vary
depending on your overall db size, for sure.
