Posted on behalf of forum user 'charlieb'. Attempting to migrate to a new perforce server and after migration half of depots will be obliterated. Process will take a few days and want to minimize the actual cut over downtime. Servers: System A: Current master server, contains everything System B: New server that will house a few select depots from System A. Steps: 1. Checkpoint System A 2. Replay that checkpoint on System B 3. Obliterate some depots on System B 4. A few days later, replay the journal from System A on to System B. Will the journal correctly update the existing depots or will it barf and die once it attempts to update a depot that was obliterated in step 3? I know there's the perfsplit tool but I want to do this the hardway (unless the perfsplit tool can safely run on a replica server to avoid master downtime) -- Please click here to see the post in its original format: http://forums.perforce.com/index.php?/topic/5720-journal-restore-on-server-after-obliterating-some-depots _______________________________________________ perforce-user mailing list - [email protected] http://maillist.perforce.com/mailman/listinfo/perforce-user
