Yes, this is correct.  The 5.8.1 (2012-06-05) release was done w/
Automake 1.12, which is still affected.

   The issues were fixed in automake releases 1.12.2 and 1.11.6.

I will release 5.8.2 in the next couple weeks.  It will be bootstrapped
w/ Automake 1.13.1, which should be OK as far as i know.
