Right, that's towards the excruciatingly correct approach,
which should also include a configure-time test.  The pain
might be worth it, though, as specifying a dependent array
size in function parameter scope is a decent optimization
and security (IMHO) opportunity for non-affected platforms.
Hmmm...

BTW, did you see my request for re-sending the last mail (in
the other thread)?  In case you missed it, i accidentally
deleted that message, thinking to read it in the archives,
but apparently it's not there, both then and now.
