Extremely Long Transactions

I'm running the SQL Profiler while waiting for a very long transaction to
finish (clicking on the "Change Source Control" toolbar icon in VS.NET for
the first time in a session). I see that the following query was run:

exec dbo.spgetfsobjectversionproperties @repid = 1, @objverid = 843034

If I understand the "Duration" column, it's saying that it took 425 seconds
for this query to complete.

This is a small project, and I'm not sure what the devil the system is
doing. BTW, it's got sqlserver.exe pegging the CPU during this.

Any clues on this?
