When you say "open the project through the
IDE", what exactly do you mean? If you are
using the Open From Source Control command,
you probably don't need to be. That command
retrieves the entire solution and all of its
parts down to your local disk. VS.NET is
griping because you already have that solution
file. It is sufficient to simply open the
solution file you've already got.

The MSSCCPRJ.SCC file is created by VS.NET to
remember source control settings information.

As to your other question: If you want to stop
using source control integration and just use
the main Vault client, you can use the
Change Source Control command in VS.NET to unbind
your projects and solution.

Subject: [vault-list] Vault setup

I have some questions on how the files should be setup for Vault to work
with them correctly. I have a project that I added to Vault through .NET.
Everything looks fine in Vault, my working folder & the project. I receive
the attached message when I attempt to open the project through the IDE. Is
this normal? What is the mssccprj.scc file? What is it there for and in
which folder should it be in? Are the files listed below in the correct
place?

My project folder contains:

Folder:
UI_Test

Files:
MSSCCPRJ.SCC
Test.sln
Test.suo
Test.vssscc

I also have another question. I have read other posts to this list about
using Vault client exclusively and not using the IDE Client. How do you do
this? I tried opening the .sln file by double clicking in the vault client
but received this error message and then another message that the .vbproj
file is unable to be read. I just can't help but to think that my files are
not set up correctly when I added the project to Vault. A step by step
would be great.

Thanks for your help,

Corinne
