Visual Studio 2003 IDE - File name not shown

I have a question about using Vault within VS 2003 - When I do a Get Latest, I am never shown the name of the file that is about to be overwritten.  This is problematic if I wanted to keep my local copy or merge changes, I am not even sure which file is in question.  Is this a setting or is it just the Way Things Are?  Thank for any help!
