RE: Slow response in Visual Studio .NET 2003

The SOS 4.0 Client can be used with a 3.5.3 Server, as you discovered,
but a few of the new features will not be available (although for what
you are testing, that is not an issue).

If you're willing to try SOS 4.0 again, here's what you should do to get
past your login problems.

1. Install SOS 4.0
2. Run the SOS GUI Client and login to your server, BUT

   - do NOT set "Automatically connect" on the Connect to Server dialog
   - do NOT set "Remember my password" on the Login dialog

   (those are both new 4.0 features but seem to be causing you problems
    with your existing projects, we'll need to determine why later on)

3. Then start VS and see if you can open your solution.  You should get
   prompted for a password.
